Rooflines and architecture

The lines of the house, traced in light. Every run is measured and cut to fit, so the bulbs sit straight on the edge and the spacing stays even from corner to corner.

Rooflines are where most projects start. We use commercial-grade C9 and C7 LED bulbs on wire cut to length on site, held by clips made for gutters, shingles and ridge caps so each bulb faces the street. Done well, it reads as part of the architecture, whether the house is a Spanish Colonial in Hancock Park, a Craftsman in Silver Lake or a flat-roofed modern in the hills.

The same bulbs can outline windows, doors and garage doors, wrap porch columns, or line a front walk or driveway, carrying the design down to eye level where guests actually see it.

How we install it

  • Measured on site and cut to length, so there are no bunched ends or extra strand hanging off a corner.
  • Held by clips designed for gutters, shingles and ridge caps, so each bulb sits square to the edge.
  • Checked after dark on installation day. If a bulb or strand fails during the season, we repair it within 24 hours.

Questions

Warm white or cool white?
Most Los Angeles homes look best in warm white, which reads closer to candlelight against stucco, wood and brick. Cool white has a crisper, bluer look that can suit some modern architecture. We'll talk through both at the walkthrough.
Can you light a two- or three-story house?
Yes. Tall rooflines and hillside homes are part of our portfolio. We plan access and equipment at the walkthrough.
Is everything taken down after the holidays?
Yes. We remove everything in January and leave the house as we found it. The lighting comes back into our inventory.
