Warm white icicles
Staggered drops of warm white light along the eaves. The most timeless choice.
Also in cool white.
Light that falls instead of outlining. Icicles hang from the eaves in staggered drops, curtain lights make walls of light, and cascade tubes send light trickling down through the branches.

Icicle lights are the classic way to soften a roofline. Each set mixes drops of different lengths, from about 3 to 19 inches, so the edge reads as naturally uneven rather than as a fringe. They can stand alone or hang just below a line of C9 bulbs for a layered look: a crisp edge with a soft drop beneath it.
For larger walls of light, curtain lights hang in long vertical strands. Cascade tubes add movement, with light running down each tube like falling snow.
